Unshaven FUE HT

Does it make it more difficut for a Dr to perform a HT or get a desired result if the patient wants unshaven FUE? I dont like the idea of having a shaved head for months.

Feedback appreciated.

I aim to have unshaven pal. I know unshaven is more difficult for Drs but it is done successfully by some great Docs.

Dr Mwamba and Hakan have a few unshaven results on here i think.

This is really interesting. Why do almost all doctors prefer to shave the head completely?

Is there any particular reason for that?

Usually surgeons who can follow the natural direction and angulation of the existing hair do not require the recipient area to be shaved down however some Docs want to be extra careful as to not transect hair shafts and FUs when they make new recipient incisions and when there is a considerable amount of existing hair where the surgeon are making new recipient sites.

The more existing hair there is to work within, the more risk there can be for possible transection. This is only my opinion of course and hopefully some Doctors could chime in.

Unshaven is the way forward. Not many people can have a shaved head for months etc.

I have to do unshaven, i can only have 2/3 weeks from work and would like to go undetected. Best docs for unshave guys?

I agree with mr.dolon's opinion that no matter how great a doctor's skill is they never want to risk their patients so most Doctor prefers shaven FUE to be extra careful. Also if the area of FUE for HT is large then I think its natural for doctors to use shaven surgery.

alot of feedback from surgeons promise me unshave FUE is not a major issue however they would prefer for me to shave down. There are more risks with unshaven so now its a question of me having the guts to have the shaved look and risking family/friends knowing iv had a procedure.

Hello Everyone,

What Dillon said above is exactly correct. To achieve a perfectly natural looking and undetectable hair transplant a lof of factors must be perfect. The newly implanted grafts must match the angulation of your existing hair exactly. The result needs to be of high density meaning the new grafts must be placed very close together or densely packed. The directionality of the new hairs must be spot on. All of these items I just listed are much more easily achieved when the patient's head is shaved and we have a clean pallet to work on.

Check out this Alvi Armani Hair Restoration below. The implanted hairs match his exisiting hairs perfectly. This must be the case for an amazing result.

Thank you for the feeback guys. That's one hell of a result and hairline by the way.

If its a small procedure then usually its not a problem but if its a large case or implanting inbetween thinning areas, then it becomes more of an issue.

I'm looking at 2000 - 2500 grafts so i will have to bite the bullet and go shaven :(

I think it would be better to shave the scalp could have nice overview
